Homework

Spellings are set each week, on a Monday. Your child has a yellow spelling homework book, which they will bring home. They should practise their words and write a sentence for each of their spellings. Spelling homework is collected in on a Friday and the words are tested on Fridays.

Your child is expected to read at least 10 pages of their book at home each week with an adult and have their reading diary signed. Diaries are collected in on a Monday. We keep reading diaries in school all week so that they are available for guided reading sessions with an adult. The children will then bring them home on a Friday. If your child forgets to bring their diary or book home, please hear them read something from home and write on paper that we can stick in for them.

Maths homework is handed out on a Thursday and collected in on a Thursday for Year 5 children. For Year 6 children Maths homework is to complete the work started at boosters on a Tuesday and hand it in on a Monday.

Once a term, we will set a learning log for Year 5. The date this should be handed in is on the choices sheet. There is no expectation that the Year 6 children will complete the learning log this term, as they have a longer Maths homework. However, they can choose to do the learning log if they would enjoy it.
