Attendance, Punctuality & Holidays in Term Time

Every School Day Counts

At Whitwell Primary we believe that every child matters. We want every child to be the BEST they can be.

To reach this aim we need each child to come to school every possible day and to arrive with enough time to join all the children at the start of each day. We know ‘Every Day Counts’.

Research shows that missing days or consistently arriving late can hinder each child growing and developing to their very best. Attendance at school and arriving on time really is important to us and we expect parents and carers to support us with this. We know that you want to help your child whenever you can and this really is a good way to show it.

Holidays in Term Time

From September 2013 the Government has withdrawn the right of Headteacher’s to grant any leave of absence for holidays during the term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Parents who take their children on holiday without permission will incur unauthorised absences for their child and could be issued with a fixed penalty notice and/or court action.
