Autumn Term One

This term in English, Year One will begin to read, write and spell common exception words and begin to use them in short captions and sentences. We will spend this term building up our key writing skills through a range of games, practical activities and tasks to promote good fine motor strength and accurate letter formation.

Throughout the year in English there will be daily opportunities to practise letter formation, handwriting and spelling. This in turn will help support the children when developing their understanding and development of simple sentences and basic punctuation.

We will use the texts 'Look Up!' and 'The Colour Monster' to deliver the objectives this term.
